Members can earn Octopoints, access exclusive rewards and giveaways, and take part in schemes that reward you for changing when you use electricity.
It’s free to join if you’re eligible, and you can access Octoplus through the Octopus Energy app or your online account.
What is Octoplus?
Octoplus is designed to give Octopus customers a little more back from their energy account.
Instead of being a separate tariff, it sits alongside your existing Octopus Energy tariff and gives eligible customers access to rewards, competitions and energy-saving schemes.
Depending on what is available at the time, Octoplus rewards can include things such as:
- Octopoints that can be exchanged for account credit
- Exclusive competitions and giveaways
- Food, drink and entertainment rewards
- The Octopus Energy Wheel of Fortune
- Saving Sessions where you can earn rewards for shifting your electricity use
- Other limited-time Octoplus offers and promotions
The exact rewards available can change throughout the year.
What are Octopoints?
Octopoints are the reward currency used by Octoplus.
You can collect them through different Octopus activities and then redeem them through your Octopus account.
Currently:
800 Octopoints = £1
One of the simplest options is to convert your Octopoints into credit towards your Octopus Energy account.
Octopus also allows customers to use points in other ways, including donating them to charity or using them against selected rewards.
How can you earn Octopoints?
There are several ways to build up your Octopoints balance.
Saving Sessions
One of the main ways is by taking part in Octopus Energy Saving Sessions.
Saving Sessions reward customers for changing when they use electricity to help balance the electricity grid.
There are now two main types:
Power Down — use less electricity during periods when demand on the grid is particularly high.
Power Up — use more electricity during periods when there is plenty of renewable electricity available.
If you successfully change your consumption during an eligible session, you can earn Octopoints based on your electricity use.

Wheel of Fortune
Octopus customers can also get the opportunity to spin the Wheel of Fortune.
Octoplus members receive Octopoints from eligible spins, with the possibility of winning significantly larger prizes.
Customers with smart meters may also receive additional opportunities to spin.
Other Octoplus rewards
Octopus regularly adds other ways for members to receive rewards.
These can include weekly offers, competitions, partner rewards and limited-time promotions.
Because these change regularly, it is worth checking the Octoplus area of the Octopus app rather than assuming the same rewards will always be available.
Who can join Octoplus?
Octoplus is available to Octopus Energy electricity customers with a working smart meter.
Your smart meter needs to be able to send the readings Octopus requires for relevant Octoplus features.
Some individual rewards have additional eligibility requirements.
For example, taking part in Saving Sessions requires suitable half-hourly smart meter data, and Octopus may set additional requirements for particular promotions or rewards.
You can check whether you are eligible by opening the Octopus Energy app and clicking on ‘Octoplus’ in the bottom right hand corner.
Do you have to be on a smart tariff?
No.
Octoplus is not limited to customers on tariffs such as Intelligent Octopus Go, Agile Octopus or Octopus Flux.
Eligible customers on standard Octopus tariffs can also join.
However, you need a compatible smart meter to access the programme and some of its main features.
How do I join Octoplus?
Sign in to your Octopus Energy account and open the Octoplus section, or visit the Octoplus page directly and select Join Octoplus.
Once you’ve joined, you’ll be able to access the rewards and offers available through Octoplus.
Some features, including Saving Sessions, require you to opt in separately before you can take part.
Is Octoplus free?
Yes. There is no separate membership charge for joining Octoplus.
It is an additional rewards programme available to eligible Octopus Energy customers.
Joining Octoplus does not change your energy tariff by itself.
Is Octoplus worth joining?
If you’re eligible, Octoplus gives you access to rewards that you would not otherwise receive simply for remaining an Octopus customer.
You do not need to actively participate in every offer.
You can use the rewards that interest you, collect Octopoints where convenient and choose whether to take part in schemes such as Saving Sessions.
For customers who already have a suitable smart meter, there is very little additional setup beyond opting in through their Octopus account.

Do Octopoints expire?
The rules around Octopoints and individual rewards can change, so it is worth checking the latest Octoplus terms and your Octopus account before building up points for a particular purpose.
Can I use Octoplus without a smart meter?
Octoplus is designed around smart meter customers, and a compatible electricity smart meter is required for its core energy-related rewards.
If you don’t currently have one, you can check your Octopus account to see whether you can arrange a smart meter installation.
Is Saving Sessions part of Octoplus?
Yes. You need to be an eligible Octoplus member to participate in Octopus Energy’s Saving Sessions.
You may also need to opt into the Saving Sessions programme and then opt into individual events.
Does Octopus still offer Free Electricity sessions?
The previous standalone Octopus Free Electricity sessions have been replaced by Power Up Saving Sessions for 2026.
Power Up sessions reward you with Octopoints for increasing your electricity use during selected periods when there is plenty of electricity available on the grid.
